What is the Spinning Program?
The Spinning Program is an indoor cycling fitness program. Spinning utilizes a detailed set of specific movements and heart rate training.
Who created the Spinning Program?
Johnny Goldberg (Johnny G.) created the Spinning Program while training to compete in the Race Across America. He created the Spinning Program to help motivate people to get fit and increase physical and mental strength.
Can anyone take the class?
Yes. Participants set their own level of intensity by adjusting the bike resistance. Spinning is low-impact aerobics.
What equipment does the Spinning Program use?
The spinning program utilizes the Pro Spinner by Schwinn. The bike has fixed gears, racing handlebars, pedals with clips or cages, an adjustable seat, and a resistance (brake) adjustment knob to adjust the intensity of the work effort.
The spinning program encourages use of a heart rate monitor to measure heart rate throughout the ride. During the workout, a Trained Spinning Instructor motivates and coaches participants toward group and individual goals.
What kind of clothing do I wear?
Biking shorts are recommended and will help alleviate any discomfort that may occur, especially for beginners.
Spinning/Cycling is like the real thing.
The spinning program is a training and empowerment course, designed to get the participant in the best physical shape possible. A participant can ride in a spinning class and receive the same benefits as cycling outdoors.
Is spinning for both men and women?
Yes. Since the program emulates a bike ride, both men and women can participate.
